A recent article in the Daily Caller titled “Rove: GOP Establishment Can’t Win Senate Alone” (http://dailycaller.com/2014/09/18/rove-gop-establishment-cant-win-senate-alone/) which began:

GOP strategist Karl Rove says the GOP could lose the Senate majority unless the party’s base of supporters volunteer more time and cash to the establishment’s preferred candidates.

Also, lately my inbox is being inundated from the NRSC (the National Republican Senatorial Committee) imploring me to donate money so they can gain the majority in the Senate this fall. I even received an email ostensibly from Bob Dole; how long ago was it that he had any relevance in today’s climate, begging for money? In addition there have been recent columns from writers who bill themselves as small government conservatives that are urging now is the time to come together and forget our past differences, it’s imperative to take back the Senate now or we’ll face all types of doom and gloom scenarios. Then there are various television and radio talk show pundits and commentators with a similar message.

Apparently they expect us to forget quotes such as what Senator McConnell said before the primaries about the Tea Party candidates; “I think we are going to crush them everywhere, I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.” Then there was Karl Rove’s “war on the Tea Party” with his creation of Conservative Victory Project. Plus, there were the shenanigans that took place in the Mississippi Senate run-off election where robo-calls were placed insinuating that Chris McDaniel was a secret racist.

So now that the primaries are over and the general elections are nearing if you thought that the Washington elite were willing to be more conciliatory towards the Conservative wing of the party, other than employing their well worn tactic of playing the guilt card, you would be wrong. It has been recently been leaked that the Republican leadership in the House are working on plans to punish those that go against the leadership. http://www.nationaljournal.com/congress/possible-rules-change-could-punish-boehner-dissidents-20140919

So where should we go from here? My suggestion is to support the candidates that you believe in especially in the elections for the House of Representatives, pay more attention to the local elections and let whatever happens in the Senate happen, I really don’t see it getting any worse than it already is. As far as the Karl Roves and Mitch McConnells of the country are concerned let them lie in the beds that they’ve made.
