Dedicated to Kayla Mueller
At the recent National Prayer breakfast and shortly following the video that ISIS posted where they put a Jordanian Air Force pilot in a cage and burnt him alive; President Obama had this to say about judging Islam:
Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.
Okay I will get off my “high horse” as soon as terrorists, in the name of Islam stop:
Murdering 26 year old American aid worker Kayla Mueller who dedicated her life to comforting others. Likely after putting her through a living Hell during the final year of her young life.
Putting a Jordanian soldier in a cage and burning him alive then posting a well edited propaganda video of these actions.
Flying jetliners into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon killing 2000 innocent victims.
Attacking hotels, cafes and community centers in Mumbai India
Kidnapping schoolgirls in a northern Nigerian town.
Locking the doors of a church and setting it on fire killing those inside.
Invading a school in Pakistan killing 145 including 132 schoolchildren.
Shooting a Pakistani girl solely because she sought an education for herself, too bad for them that one didn’t work out so well she survived, subsequently winning a Nobel Prize.
Beheading American journalist Daniel Pearl.
Beheading aid workers.
Indoctrinating their own children to embrace these tactics and celebrating beheadings.
Raping children.
Using women of differing beliefs as sex slaves.
Honor killings.
Sharia Law.
Attaching bombs to the mentally disabled and blowing them up.
Throwing homosexuals off buildings.
Crucifying Christians.
Beheading two boys who refused to denounce Jesus.
Destroying Christian churches and Buddhist statues.
Hiding themselves and arms in hospitals and private homes, using civilians as human shields.
Beheading of Japanese journalists.
Stoning women and girls who have been raped.
Killing American soldiers and an unborn child at Fort Hood.
Bombing US Navy ships.
Driving a truck bomb into the parking garage of the World Trade Center in 1993.
Beheading a British soldier on a busy street in London and proudly showing the blood on their hands.
This is only a partial list compared to all the atrocities that have been committed in the name of Islam in recent years. Therefore I reiterate, Mr. President I will not get off my “high horse” in condemning these attacks and the motivation behind them.
Finally, you chose to mention Slavery and Jim Crow laws as acts sometimes “justified in the name of Christ,” I would like to point out that Christianity was the main force behind ending these practices.
