I received the following BS response from Jackie Walorski’s office not addressing my complaints and almost completely mirroring her Press Release:

Dear Mr. Watkins:
Thank you for contacting me in regards to H.R. 2029, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016. I appreciate you taking the time to inform me of your thoughts on this important issue.
While this legislation is not perfect and includes some items that I do not fully agree with, I ultimately supported it because it provides critical funding for our nation’s military, addresses national security priorities to combat violent Islamic extremism, prevents Guantanamo Bay detainees from being transferred to the United States, addresses excessive regulatory overreach by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and reforms the visa waiver program to ensure terrorists can’t easily enter the United States. In addition, this bill makes permanent many crucial tax provisions, allowing individuals, families, and charities the certainty they need to plan for their future. Not only that, but it also gives businesses confidence to make investments, grow, and create good-paying jobs that are essential for the Second District. Some of these provisions include:
• Permanent extension of Section 179 which allows small businesses and farmers to deduct property and equipment expenses, giving them more money to reinvest in businesses;
• Permanent extension of R&D tax credit which promotes investment in developing new technologies across all industries, increasing the global competitiveness of American-made products;
• Two-year moratorium on the job-killing medical device tax which was enacted as part of Obamacare.
Please know there is no greater honor than serving the hardworking Hoosiers of Northern Indiana. If you would like updates on the actions I have taken in Congress, please visit my website at www.walorski.house.gov to sign-up for my e-newsletter. Thank you again for contacting me.
Sincerely,
Jackie Walorski

Shortly before leaving for her Christmas vacation my “Republican” Representative, Jackie Walorski, voted for the comprehensive Omnibus bill, sadly this came as no surprise to me. I offered the following letter to our local newspaper as well as to her office:

Congress, in a rush to get out the door for their Christmas Vacation passed an Omnibus bill. This  $1.1 trillion, 2000+ page spending bill funds the federal government for fiscal year 2016. This marks the sixth straight year that Congress has passed a comprehensive Omnibus bill versus a true budget where it’s various parts are negotiated and debated by our Representatives.

This massive undertaking was presented to Congress in the early morning hours of Wednesday December 18th, with little to no time for review the on bill it was passed early on the following Friday by both Houses of Congress. The leading Democrats in Congress then held a press conference where the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid offered high praise for its passage. Chuck Schumer, heir apparent to Harry Reid as the leading Democrat in the Senate had this to say: “If you would have told me this year that we’d be standing here celebrating the passage of an omnibus bill,” and “I wouldn’t have believed it, but here we are.”

Among other items funded on the Democrat’s wish list was the continuing funding of the abortion clinics of Planned Parenthood. So how did the Republican Representative of the Second District and stated pro-life advocate Jackie Walorski vote? Oh she had no problem voting yes.

For the letter to be included in the paper it is limited to 200 words so I focused on the Planned Parenthood funding since she loves to emphasis the fact that she is so dedicated to the pro-life movement.

I would also like to point out other items included in the bill compiled by The Washington Standard that would make any Democrats wish list:

  1. Fully funds Obama’s illegal executive order known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which allows illegals to remain in the US.
  2. Funds Sanctuary Cities
  3. Funds All Refugee Programs
  4. Funds All of the Mideast Immigration Programs That Have Been Exploited by Terrorists in Recent Years
  5. Funds the Release of Criminal Aliens
  6. Quadruples H-2B Foreign Worker Visas
  7. Funds Tax Credits for Illegal Aliens
  8. Locks-In Huge Spending Increases
  9. Fails to Allocate Funds to Complete the 700-Mile Double-Layer Border Fence That Congress Promised the American People

The press release issued by her office included this statement “I am also happy that we are delaying the damaging medical device tax for two years – this misguided tax will cost jobs and harm patients and I look forward to the day we see it repealed in full.” To explain Indiana’s second district contains a high concentration medical device manufacturers. Two problems with this are that it’s only temporary but more-so because it’s an attempt to make ObamaCare a bit more palpable reneging on her promise to Repeal and Replace.

The full press release can be read here.

When I said Jackie Walorski’s vote came as no surprise to me I’ll offer proof with the following scores from Conservative groups:

  1. Conservative Review 44%
  2. Heritage Action 65%
  3. FreedomWorks  63%

Concerning the expanded expansion of foreign visas authorized in the Omnibus bill I recently read Michelle Malkin’s latest bookSold Out: How High-Tech Billionaires & Bipartisan Beltway Crapweasels Are Screwing America’s Best & Brightest” that explains the abuses inherent in these programs. In it she lays out how these programs are not used because of any shortage of workers for such positions but for big businesses desire for cheaper labor.
