Update — Who’s Behind the Plan to Disrupt Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day?

Since my story was originally published there have been some new developments. Original story below.

On Monday Project Veritas (founded by James O’Keefe) posted a story and an undercover video from one of the planning meetings of Disrupt J20 in advance of Donald Trump’s inauguration titled “Part I: Hidden-camera Investigation Uncovers Groups Plotting Violence at Trump Inauguration.”

During the video the activists are heard discussing ways to accomplish their goal: “It would be really something if we could stop them from having the Deploraball at all.” The “Deplorable” is an event scheduled for the eve of the inauguration for pro-Trump supporters. During the video the activists are heard discussing releasing butyric acid, the main ingredient of “stink bombs” into the ventilation system or if that fails, to set off the smoke alarms with the sprinkler system.

The host of The Morning Blaze, Doc Thompson, invited Disrupt J20 organizer, Lacy MacAuley back on his program to respond to the videos. Ms MacAuley claimed that the event was a set-up as they were aware that the Project Veritas group were “infiltrators” and that the video was done to expose them. She also stated that their interest in the “Deplorable” was to capture the participants in embarrassing situations such as displaying the Nazi salute.

There is now a new video posted by Project Veritas titled: “New Investigation Uncovers Plots to Chain the Trains and Shut Down DC During Trump Inauguration.”

On January 5th, host of The Morning Blaze radio program on TheBlaze Radio Network, Doc Thompson, interviewed Lacy MacAuley one of the organizers of Disrupt J20 or #DisruptJ20 on social media. The goal of her group is to organize protests to be in Washington DC on January 20th during Inauguration Day.

Listening to Ms MacAuley and how well organized this movement has become I got the impression that the people behind it are what could be characterized as professional protestors similar to those that were ultimately behind other movements such as “Occupy Wall Street” and “Black Lives Matter” and I sought to look into it further.

According to the website, www.disruptj20.org, they are asking people to “Join us for a bold mobilization against the inauguration of Donald Trump” and “we’re bringing widespread civil resistance to the streets of Washington, DC through protests, direct actions, and even parties and we want you there with us.”

In the website’s “about” tab under the headline “Who is behind all this?” they state that “#DisruptJ20 is supported by the work of the DC Welcoming Committee,” “a collective of experienced local activists and out-of-work gravediggers acting with national support.” I found it rather interesting that they also include a “legal” tab that gives advice on how to handle oneself if confronted by law enforcement and being arrested.

Who is the DC Welcoming Committee? According to their website they seek to “bring hundreds of LGBTQs to typically ‘straight’ spaces for one-time only experiences.” Perusing their website and a fair amount of Google searches I could find nothing that would indicate that they could take on such a massive effort as is involved with the “#DisruptJ20” movement, leaving me very suspicious as to their motivation and who is behind it. I did find this one article from Oath Keepers that indicates a George Soros connection to the funding.

Next I attempted to locate who exactly Lacy MacAuley works for so I checked her Twitter and Facebook accounts which list her as “International Relations ~ Radical Dreamer ~ Justice Lover ~ Thought Dancer ~ Heart Writer ~ Divine Dakini” but no current employer.

Facebook does list Ms MacAuley as a Former Media Manager at Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), her profile there includes this:

Lacy came to IPS after doing communications for a variety of progressive organizations through the progressive PR firm Massey Media LLC and as a single contractor. She has done media relations work with groups such as Project Vote and ACORN, United for Peace and Justice, Jubilee USA, Mountain Justice Summer, the IMF Resistance Network, and the Solidarity Center (international affiliate of the AFL-CIO).

As I continued to look into the #DisruptJ20 movement I found that one of it’s chief spokespeople is filmmaker and prominent liberal Michael Moore who had previously tweeted out: “Disrupt the Inauguration. The Majority have spoken – by nearly 2.7 million votes &counting! Silence is not an option.”

While I have been unable to ascertain who exactly is behind the Disrupt J20 or any other protest movement attempting to cause chaos on Inauguration Day I truly hope that the law enforcement agencies are using the models that were in place for the RNC and DNC conventions and that the American tradition of peaceful transitions of power will insure that January 20th will be a day of peace in Washington DC.
